Return

Wed Aug 19, 2009, 3:13 AM
Alright, so it's been a while since I put anything new on, but I've got a few updates. My girlfriend and several friends of ours have been waiting on my work, Memory, which I am dusting off and currently redoing. Trying not to give too much away, it's sort of a Space Odyssey-esque tale and there's no set date of its completion since there's so much going on in my life that takes me away from the computer.

PS. Insomnia sucks.

Dead Space Review

So, I said I was going to do this a while ago... just haven't gotten around to it until now, but here's the lowdown on this sci-fi thriller:

Platform: Xbox 360
Graphics: 9/10
Gameplay: 9/10
Replayability: 8/10

"Never heard of a total communications blackout on one of these things... You'd think with a thousand people on board someone would pick up the phone."

With these words we look out at the titan that is the USG Ishimura, the largest planetary mining ship in her class as it hangs in silent orbit over the Aegis 7 colony, easily dwarfing the repair ship Kellion that was sent to investigate. On approach, however, something goes horribly wrong and Kellion ends up smashing into one of the docking bays of the Ishimura, stranding its crew in the seemingly empty ship. Of course, it wouldn't be a survival horror game if it was.

more to come...

Sweet something of someplace!

What's more annoying than writer's block when you're trying to write a story or snippet? Well, I'll tell you... writer's block when you're trying to write your part of a project on Mediterranean stereotypes.

My partner and I went down to Greek at the Harbor last Wednesday for this thing and there are a number of questions set that should make this thing easy, but for some reason the things I want to write don't come out the way I want to write them. It's just about the most frustrating thing I've experienced in the past month aside from Alone in the Dark (don't play it btw, controls suck and the save/load system blows harder than a Category 5).

Lackadaisical

I don't feel terribly compelled to continue Memory... Nothing that I can put into it seems to direct it in a way that I want and I've still got those pesky finals to go through, two left in case anyone was wondering. I just don't know if I'll continue it, I know what the punchline is going to be, the secrets etc. that the protagonist is going to uncover, the climax... maybe it's just been too much writing this semester, I don't know.

Might take a few cracks at shorter projects for a while until I'm good and happy with writing again, maybe some poetry and pocket stories, maybe some character background for the various ones that I have out there: Ted, Sul, a new one that I've got ready for stats for my dip into Saga Edition.

Indefinite

Still working on Memory, sorta. It seems like the project's going to be on indefinite hiatus barring divine inspiration because of all the papers and stuff that the wonderful professors as wonderful as they are have given me... wonderful. *twitch*

I think that I'm going to start moving my game review stuff into my deviantart pending my completion of Dead Space (which rocks, btw, and is probably pending the close of the semester) maybe I'll put it on my business card, hand it out at work, church, to random friends, etc.

Props to Jenny, creator of The Zombie Hunters, which has cheered me up considerably in these scholastic times.
